Folding screen mobile phone shipments are expected to reach 18.3 million in 2022, accounting for only 1.2%

Recently, Counterpoint Research, a market research organization, released a research report on folding screen mobile phones, predicting that the global shipments of foldable smartphones will reach 18.3 million by the end of 2022. From a long-term perspective, Counterpoint is still optimistic about foldable products, but is conservative about the overall shipment growth before the end of 2022.

According to the “Foldable Smartphone Shipment Forecast for the First Quarter of 2021” provided by Counterpoint Research, in the foreseeable future, the share of foldable smartphone shipments will remain at a very low single digit. Last year, foldable mobile phones only accounted for a small part of the overall smartphone market, and it is expected to reach only 1.2% of the market by 2022.
Counterpoint Research senior analyst Jene Park pointed out that Samsung has been leading the folding screen product market in terms of design, marketing and shipments, and last year accounted for more than 80% of the market segment. However, this year Samsung faces more competition, including the already released Huawei Mate X2 and Xiaomi Mix Fold, as well as the folding screen products announced or hinted by vivo, OPPO, and TCL.

Jene Park said that before the foldable screen mobile phone market expands, three key things must be completed: the price of flagship products drops; more suppliers participate; and Apple enters the market. He explained that Apple is extremely cautious in terms of cost and component procurement. If the foldable iPhone comes out, it will represent the power of the technology. “We expect this to be achieved by the end of 2022 or 2023.”
In addition, Neil Shah, Vice President of Research at Counterpoint, believes that smartphone manufacturers and the Android developer ecosystem need to optimize software and applications for the new dimensions of folding screen products, and reduce risks to quickly expand scale.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mobile phone battery

Samsung’s new trademark exposes the Z Fold Tab in three-fold form or will be released next year

It has long been rumored that Samsung is developing a three-fold mobile phone called Galaxy Z Fold Tab. The aircraft may meet with us in the first quarter of 2022. The latest news shows that Samsung’s new trademark indicates that the machine does exist. Samsung’s “Galaxy Z Fold” trademark application submitted to the European Union Intellectual Property Office is classified as Class 9, and is described as a “smartphone, tablet.”

This seems a bit unusual, because in Samsung’s previous “Galaxy Z” and “Z Flip” applications, there is no description of the so-called “tablet”. Therefore, we have reason to suspect that this three-folding screen called Galaxy Z Fold Tab may not only be as simple as a folding screen phone, it may be a tablet computer. However, judging from the relevant news, Samsung is still hesitant to show this new machine. I don’t know what kind of consideration this is.
In addition, recent news about Samsung Z Fold 3 is also increasing. Outsiders believe that it may be Samsung’s next flagship folding machine. Based on previous revelations, the machine is expected to be equipped with an LTPO screen, with a screen refresh rate of approximately 120Hz; using a combination of 2215mAh+2060mAh dual battery cells, the rated battery capacity is 4275mAh. In addition, the machine may adopt a new folding form.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mobile phone battery

DXOMARK announces Samsung S21 Ultra front camera score: 100 points overall

On April 22, the evaluation agency DXOMARK announced the selfie lens score of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. Based on the high-detail, wide dynamic range, and low-noise performance of this product in selfie photos, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G’s front camera scored 100 points.

DXOMARK introduced that Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G can take selfies with good exposure even in low light conditions. And the front camera of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G has a very accurate autofocus function, so there is no need to repeatedly test the closest Selfie distance like a mobile phone with a fixed-focus front camera. However, this product will occasionally underexpose when the self-portrait distance is greater than 120 cm. Although the dynamic range of the photo is very wide, and can well capture the details of the subject, but in some monochrome test scenes, the white balance is always too cold. Since the depth of field of the front camera is quite narrow, the face far behind the closest subject may not be in focus. Therefore, it is recommended that users of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G take self-portraits as far away as possible.

In addition, the level of detail of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G front camera is “amazing”, ranking among the top five in the DXOMARK text special test. Taking text photos in bright light, although there is a little noise, the style of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G front camera is to prioritize detail preservation rather than noise reduction.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mobile phone battery

IOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 new ad tracking function will be pushed next week

On April 21, according to GSMArena, Apple will push iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 to iPhone and iPad users next week. This update will add many new features to the system, including an App Tracking Transparency feature for advertising.

When a user uses an iOS 14.5 device to open the APP, if the advertisement in the APP tries to track and collect user usage data, the system will automatically pop up a prompt message asking whether the user is allowed to grant the permission to collect data from the advertisement. Many companies that earn revenue through digital advertising have stated that this feature will reduce the efficiency of targeted advertising and lead to a decrease in related revenue.

But Apple has also mentioned that all apps must support App Tracking Transparency from April 26, or apps that violate the new policy will be eliminated. It is worth noting that the purple version of iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini and iPad Pro just released will be pre-installed with iOS 14.5 or iPadOS 14.5.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mobile phone battery
