iPhone 14: All you need to know about the 2022 flagship

The iPhone 14 is rumoured to be released later this year, and whispers suggest an interesting update could be in store. Here’s all you need to know.

The iPhone 13 is hugely popular, but that doesn’t mean Apple isn’t working on the iPhone 14 behind closed doors – and given a surprising number of leaks, we’ve already got some idea of what the company could be planning for its 2022 flagship range.

In fact, if the rumours are true, it could be a much more exciting upgrade than what’s on offer from the iPhone 13, with current rumours pointing towards a potential redesign, the removal of the Face ID notch and an improved camera setup too.

With that in mind, we outline all there is to know about the iPhone 14 right now, including release date and pricing predictions as well as the latest leaks and rumours detailing what to expect from Apple’s 2022 flagship iPhone range.
When will the iPhone 14 be released?

Apple officially unveiled the iPhone 13 in September 2021, so we’re still quite some time away from the release of the next-gen iPhone 14.

While there aren’t any solid rumours right now, iPhone releases tend to happen in September – with the exception of 2020 amidst the pandemic – so with that in mind, we expect the iPhone 14 range to be released sometime in September 2022.

We’ll update this section once we hear more, so check back frequently for the latest details, and if you can’t wait that long, take a look at our iPhone buying guide.

Best Samsung Galaxy S10 screen protectors

With an in-screen fingerprint scanner and near edge-to-edge display, Galaxy S10’s screen is precious. Keep it that way with one of these protectors

The Galaxy S10 may be a couple of generations old, now that Samsung has released the Galaxy S21, but it remains an excellent phone.

The device comes with a gorgeous 6.1in Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED display, while the S10 Plus (reviewed here) comes with a larger 6.3in screen. Both feature 93% screen-to-body ratio which means it’s a lot of glass to protect.

The S10 and S10 Plus were the first phones to introduce an ultrasonic, in-display fingerprint scanner to the mass market.

While it’s an innovative feat, it does creates a problem where screen protectors are concerned. Many third-party options come with a small cutout, to ensure it can scan your finger properly. However, a growing number are able to detect the waves through the protective materials – and we’re looking at them here.

Keep in mind, the issue doesn’t affect the S10e, which has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner built into the power button.

Without further ado, here are the best options on the market for your Galaxy S10. Many of these screen protectors are also available for the Galaxy S10 Plus.

If you’re looking for all-around protection, check out our guide to the best Samsung Galaxy S10 cases.

Best Compact Smartphone 2022

Truly compact smartphones are a dying breed, with screen sizes seemingly growing with every passing year.

As such, there aren’t as many small smartphones as there once were, but there are still some and there is still a market for them – though what we’re considering small has also changed over the years.

With that in mind we’ve created this guide, highlighting the best compact options available at a range of budgets. We’ve split it into sections, the first covers high-end phones, the second mid-rangers, and the third affordable phones, so if you’re after a compact phone just jump to the section that best suits your budget.

Our list includes everything from the truly tiny iPhone SE 3rd Gen, to the high-end Pixel 5 and iPhone 13 Mini, among many other phones.

And if you simply want the smallest smartphone possible, we’ve got you covered there too, as we’ve also dug up the smallest one we can find that’s currently available.

For the purposes of this list we’re loosely counting anything with a screen size of 6 inches or under as small. That said, some phones pack big screens into small bodies, so at times larger screen sizes might squeeze in if the overall handset is still small.

What are the best small Android phones available?

Some consumers still prefer small Android phones, and by “small,” we mean less than or equal to 150mm (~5.91 inches) tall. But are there any options left? Smartphones are getting bigger and bigger. So many devices today — especially flagships — are more than 150mm tall, or nearly six inches.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, for example, is 163.3mm tall, which is enormous. While many like big smartphones, phones that large have their share of problems. For example, they are not easy to use with one hand and are harder to carry around in an average pocket.

Lucky for you, these little gems still exist, but you might need to make some sacrifices. For example, smaller devices might have poor battery life and weaker specs than their larger counterparts. But if a small form factor is essential to you, the phones below are your best bets! Just keep in mind that some of them are a bit older.

Xiaomi Corporation: Promoting a better life through innovative technology

Founded in April 2010, Xiaomi Corporation is an Internet company producing smartphones and AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) devices, such as connected devices in households like robot vacuum cleaners, and wearables like smart watches. Xiaomi’s mission is to manufacture top quality products with fair prices and to support customers worldwide to enjoy a better life through innovative technology.

Ten years after its inception, and following its original mission statement, Xiaomi Corporation has developed into a top-class technology company in China and a global technology leader. In 2019, Xiaomi Corporation appeared in Fortune’s Global 500 for the first time, while also being the youngest company on the list. Moreover, in the third quarter of the year 2020, the corporation outperformed Apple to third place as a top smartphone vendor by selling 47.1 million units, according to a Canalys report.

The name of the brand derives from a Chinese meal that the founders ate before officially starting the business, a millet porridge called “Xiaomi Zhou” in Chinese. In addition, the “MI” in the company’s logo stands for “Mobile Internet”. It also resembles the Chinese character “心” rotated 180°, which means “heart”. With technological breakthroughs in the field of AIoT, like Xiaomi´s AIoT router, the brand has built a leading IoT platform for consumers, increasing the attractiveness of Xiaomi’s smart products and leading the industry’s development trend.
Strategic branding: brand diversification for different target groups

Xiaomi Corporation started developing multiple brands after its establishment. In August 2010, the first private beta version of MIUI, the company’s own user interface based on Android, was launched. A year later, Xiaomi Corporation released its first smartphone.
