The iPhone 14 has not yet released the news of the 15 Pro: Face ID is hidden under the screen

The iPhone 14 series has not been released yet, and the news about the iPhone 15 series is coming! On March 23, foreign media TheElec learned that Samsung Display is currently developing a new under-screen camera technology for its client Apple to hide Face ID under the display of the next-generation iPhone.

According to the source, Samsung Display’s technology is expected to be applied first to the foldable phone Samsung Electronics will launch next year, and then to the Pro series of the iPhone 15 series. It is reported that Apple plans to use the hole display and Face ID under the panel on the iPhone 15 Pro model.
The punch-hole design is widely used in today’s smartphones, and Apple is expected to apply it to the iPhone 14 series later this year.
Apple currently installs various sensors, including Face ID, in the notch on the top of its iPhones. But with under-screen Face ID, the phone will hide the sensor when not in use. This is essentially the same under-display camera or UPC technology that Samsung Display applied on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 launched last year.
Samsung Display is reportedly working with Canada’s OTI Lumionics to develop its new under-screen camera technology. Meanwhile, Samsung plans to use laser drilling on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to make the under-display camera, just like it did on the Fold 3. Apple has decided not to use laser drilling and is looking for an alternative. LG Display is also developing its own under-panel camera technology, aiming to increase the light transmittance of the hole to more than 40% after 2024.
