The Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro are Google’s current flagships, and multiple reports suggest the company is working on a cheaper Google Pixel 6a. The phone was originally expected to debut at the I/O conference around May, but new reports suggest the giant is facing supply chain and chip shortages. It is said that the launch of the new product has been delayed to another date – around July. Jon Prosser said that while the Pixel Watch is currently expected to arrive on May 26, its launch could also be delayed further.
According to previous leaks, the Google Pixel 6a will be available in three colors: black, white and green, and only the 128GB model. The Pixel 6a is expected to feature the same Tensor GS101 chip as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. But given that chip shortages are still widespread, sharing the SoC for all three phones at the same time could be a problem.
As for the Pixel Watch, it was originally expected to launch in May, but now sources say the Pixel Watch will also be delayed, possibly until July. According to the leaks, the watch is said to be code-named “rohan” and it will be available in 3 colors: gray, black and gold.
In terms of specifications, the Google Pixel 6a may feature a 6.2-inch FHD+OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Two options are said to be available: 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The phone is likely to run the Android 12 operating system out of the box.
