Is it imperative to allow third-party payments? Apple encounters antitrust investigation in the Netherlands

A few days ago, some media reported that in fiscal year 2019, Apple’s gaming business profit was as high as 8.5 billion U.S. dollars, which is higher than the profits of world-renowned gaming companies such as Nintendo and Blizzard. The main reason for this high profit is Apple’s App Store. Apple relies on the App Store platform and collects a lot of commissions. However, this behavior has always been criticized by App developers and has also attracted the attention of antitrust agencies in various countries.

Recently, Reuters reported that the Dutch antitrust agency found that Apple’s requirements for App developers to use its in-app payment system were anti-competitive and required it to make changes. People familiar with the matter said that the Dutch antitrust agency notified Apple of the decision last month, but did not impose a fine on Apple, but only asked for changes to the in-app payment system.
In response, the Dutch antitrust agency stated that Apple is undergoing legal review and is expected to announce its decision this year. Apple said that App Store rules can ensure the safety and privacy of its users.
For a long time, Apple has stipulated that App developers use its payment system and need to pay a certain amount of commission. App developers can be said to be complaining about this regulation. Some time ago, Apple finally announced that it had reached an agreement with American developers on the App Store update, allowing third-party payment methods without paying commissions to Apple.Huawei Cell Phone Batteries – Shop a wide selection of Huawei Cell Phone Batteries at www.oriccabattery.co.uk Fast Shipping.
