According to media sources, the new report shows that Apple will commission LG Display to develop a foldable display for its future release of the foldable iPhone.
It’s no secret that Apple is developing a foldable iPhone. Just a few days ago, reports about a 7-inch foldable iPhone supporting Apple Pencil have come out. Today, a new report claims that Apple has commissioned LG to develop a foldable display panel for the iPhone. Taiwan Digitimes reported that Apple has handed over the development of a foldable display to LG Display. According to the report, LG Display is “assisting” Apple in the development of the “iPhone” foldable OLED display.
The report did not mention whether Apple will hand over the mass production of the display to LG once the development is completed. The report contradicts Apple’s previous claims that Samsung cooperated on foldable displays. As we all know, Samsung is Apple’s preferred display partner. Most of the iPhone 12 XDR OLED display is manufactured by Samsung, and even the company has developed an LTPO 120Hz display for the iPhone 13 Pro.
According to reports, Apple is testing two foldable displays for its iPhone. Some reports claim that Apple has always preferred the iPhone’s Samsung Galaxy Z Flip flip design. A series of recent leaks indicate that we may soon see Apple’s first foldable device.
