Apple’s M2 chip may ship in July, and its performance will still be greatly improved by TSMC’s foundry

At the end of last year, we learned about the powerful strength of the M1 in three Macs. Recently, media reports said that the successor of the M1 chip is likely to be called “M2” and will be shipped as early as July this year. From this point of view, the MacBook Pro equipped with the next-generation chip is likely to be the first to release the chip.

Some foreign media previously broke the news that Apple will launch a new MacBook Pro at the WWDC21 conference in June this year. However, according to the current product release rhythm, the new laptop is likely to be unveiled in the second half of this year, so it is ready to buy the next generation M. Users of the chip MacBook Pro may still have to wait for a while.
It is understood that the next-generation chip is still manufactured by TSMC, and its performance is stronger, so it is more suitable for professionals. The Apple M2 chip will be equipped with a 10-core CPU with 8 high-performance cores and 2 energy-efficient cores. At the same time, in terms of graphics performance, the M2 chip will also be equipped with a 16-core or 32-core GPU to meet the needs of video editing users for graphics performance.
Since the M1 chip uses unified memory, it can only carry 8GB or 16GB of memory. However, the next-generation M2 chip will be equipped with 16GB of memory by default, and has a version with a maximum of 64GB of memory. In addition, the new M2 chip will also support more Thunderbolt interfaces to meet rich expansion needs.
