According to news on November 10, iFixit previously stated in an article advocating repair rights that the inability to replace the iPhone 13 display without damaging the Face ID may have a significant impact on the company that provides iPhone repair services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

     Replacing the iPhone 13 display will make Face ID unavailable, and swapping the iPhone 13 display with the new iPhone 13 display will result in an error message saying “Cannot activate Face ID on this iPhone.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

       In view of the repair vendors\u2019 dissatisfaction with this restriction, Apple decided to change its policy and responded to The Verge, planning to launch a software update that would allow display repairs without disabling Face ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        I learned that in iPhone 13, Apple has added a small microcontroller that can pair the iPhone 13 with its display. When repairing the monitor, Apple’s tools must be used to pair the microcontroller with the new monitor, and independent repair shops cannot use these tools. Without this pairing process, replacing the iPhone 13 display with a new one will result in the error message “Cannot activate Face ID on this iPhone.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The software update Apple plans to implement will remove the restriction that requires the microcontroller to be transferred to the new display during repairs, so third-party repair shops will again be able to repair the screen without affecting the Face ID function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      There is no news about when Apple will add software updates for improvements, but iOS 15.2 is currently in Beta testing and is expected to be introduced in iOS 15.2.
