Apple may transfer part of iPhone 12 production to India: can reduce costs

According to media reports, Apple may transfer 10% of iPhone 12 production to India. Apple and its partners have already transferred some iPhone 11 and iPhone XR production to India, and iPhone 12 may also be produced in this region. A new commercial standard report stated that iPhone 12 will soon be produced in India, and the equipment for the Indian domestic market and exports will be produced in India.

This move means that Apple will be able to avoid India’s high import tariffs on smartphones, and perhaps lower the starting price of its flagship iPhone 12 in India, thereby providing much-needed impetus to its business. Apple doubled the size of its Indian operations in the last quarter of 2020, but Cook himself admitted that given its overall size, the company’s presence in the market is still very small.

Apple’s initial goal is to transfer 7%-10% of the iPhone 12’s total production from China to India. Prior to this, Apple had discussed transferring the production of the iPhone 12 mini to India, but it has not yet made a final decision. It is expected that later in 2021, Pegatron will also start producing iPhone 12 in India. However, the partner Wistron does not seem to be involved at this stage, possibly due to the recent riots in the Indian factory, which was temporarily shelved by Apple.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Mobile phone battery
